Privacy
Last updated 12 October 2026. Written in plain words, because many of the people practising here are teenagers.
Your microphone
The microphone is used only while you practise, and the sound is analysed on your own device. Practice recordings are never uploaded. (The one exception is a separate phone-testing page at /mic-test, which is not linked from the site and has its own switch for sending recordings.)
What is saved
- A random ID made by your browser and kept in its storage, so your streak and levels can be kept. It is not your name.
- Each scored take: the level, how many sounds were right, missed or extra, and how steady the timing was.
- Usage events, for example "opened the practice" or "finished a take", with the browser and device type and the page that linked you here, so we can see which parts of the site help people learn.
Signing in
You don't need an account. If you choose to sign in with Google, we also keep your name, email address and profile picture, so your progress follows you to other devices. We never post anything or email you marketing. If you're under 13, please use the site without signing in.
Who processes it
- Our own server, which stores the scores and, if you signed in, your account.
- Our analytics (our own statistics server, and Mixpanel when it's switched on), which receive the usage events. Your name and email go only to Mixpanel's user profile, if you signed in.
- Google, only if you sign in with Google.
We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
Deleting your data
Clearing this site's data in your browser starts you over with a new ID. To delete a signed-in account and its progress, email [email protected] from the address you signed in with.
